How to Pivot Your Biz With the New Instagram Update

DON’T CLICK AWAY IN ANGER PLS GIVE ME A CHANCE - stick with me til the end & I promise there’s sooooooo much value in here for you!

There’s been a lot of fear-mongering in the online entrepreneur space the last week. At first, I got super nervous and irritated too.

Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, posted this IGTV last week. IMO, super nice of them to give everyone a heads up on the changes. I definitely appreciate the transparency!

People are claiming Instagram is no longer a photo-sharing app at all. But that’s not at all true!! They’re making it easier for us to create video and making it easier for us to make money on the app.

I know we’ve all spent years building up our follower count and creating our perfectly cohesive feeds.

I know a lot of photographers specifically are panicking right now. And I get it…. kinda.

This isn’t the end of your business.

Your Instagram was never going to grow if you were only utilizing in-feed posts any way 🤷🏼‍♀️ you need reels, IGTV, lives, stories, DM’s, carousels, guides…. You get the point.

Marketing is ALWAYS evolving to keep up with everything else going on. It’s our job to keep up with it if we want to grow our biz.

You’ve survived the addition of reels. You survived people switching to TikTok. A ton of us survived everyone leaving Facebook.

You & your business are strong enough to survive this change.

My FAVORITE stat:

What’s the average ROI (return on investment) for email marketing?

$44 for every ONE dollar you spend.

Let’s put our energy into content that makes more of an impact & doesn’t drive us bananas, shall we?

Keep nurturing your audience & bringing in new leads:

  • Start a podcast

  • Post on your blog

  • Build an email list

  • Create a membership program

  • Create freebies

  • Use Pinterest

  • Incorporate some video into your content strategy. It doesn’t need to be a reel a day but maybe one IGTV a month or something!

No shame to anyone if you don’t do these yet!! It’s totally natural to be nervous right now. But, take a deep breath — I know you’re going to keep moving forward stronger than ever. And if you can’t move forward when changes like this happen, maybe consider that owning a business isn’t for you. Digital marketing is an ever-evolving beast, so be prepared to evolve with it.

As for me, I’m definitely shifting more of my attention toward email & blogs & freebies. I love video on Instagram… But I find these avenues get me more high-paying clients AND offer you, my lovely audience, much more value.

Speaking of value: Here’s a buncha resources to help you power through the recent Instagram changes.

To launch your email marketing, I cannot recommend Flodesk enough. Seriously the easiest to personalize to your brand! Click the button below, this link here, or type in the code PXCCKT to get 50% off.

For help with email marketing and freebies, listen to one of my favorite podcasts! Karsen is a copywriter who does a great job of nurturing her audience through several different avenues.

For a great explanation of the recent changes, watch Mosseri’s IGTV, or check this out from Christina Galbato. I really like how she explained allllll the changes, not just the video-specific ones.

Last but not least…

You don’t have to do this alone. My heart is honestly to serve women with my copywriting so they can grow their businesses and enjoy the freedom that comes with entrepreneurship.

I’m booked up for blogs until November. (It feels surreal to even type that.)

But don’t fret. I have August Fast Pass Days available if you need killer captions for your reels or personality-infused email funnels to keep makin’ that moolah. Jump to the front of the line here.

XOXO,

Beth
