Email Marketing & the Wedding Industry: Does it work? Should Photographers do Email Marketing?

Should Photographers do Email Marketing?

So, should wedding photographers do email marketing?

The short answer: HECK YES

Should Photographers do Email Marketing?

Email marketing is one of the best direct marketing tactics any business owner could focus on!

Especially in the wedding photography industry, it's nice for potential clients to feel like they can connect with you on a personal level. Just looking at a photographer´s Instagram or website can be intimidating.

Receiving regular updates and information directly from you lets them know you care and reminds them that you'd love to chat!

5 reasons why wedding photographers might invest in email marketing:

  1. Email marketing has the highest ROI of any marketing channel ever

On average people who invest in email marketing earn $36 back for every $1 spent (Forbes 2020).

I don’t know about you but I seriously can’t think of a better business investment for photographers than that! Extending your reach to new clients + nurturing a warm audience is how businesses thrive, so email marketing for the photography industry just makes sense.

  2. Track & measure how effective your message is through open rates & click rates.

    The data is there, people!

When you send marketing emails you’re able to gauge how effective your messages are based on what people interact with most. This means that you’re not shooting into the dark hoping that potential clients are seeing your emails– you can know for sure what tactics are working and where to continually improve your email content!

  3. A simple sales campaign turns a warm lead into a spicy hot one.

Email marketing for photographers is THE WAY to directly catch your potential client's attention. After a personalized introduction, you can sell yourself through simple sales campaigns.

They joined your email list for a reason, so give them something to entice them into giving you business too!

  4. You can’t always rely on Insta / FB for income

If any of the social media platforms you use shut down or something happens to your account, you’re kinda screwed.

I cannot tell you how many nightmare stories I’ve heard of friends’ accounts getting hacked and having to start all over with no potential client following base!

So, having multiple channels of marketing communication helps ensure that your people are being reached, and have ways to easily reach you!

When you have an email list, you own the information that allows you to contact people. This is extremely valuable! Plus, people consented to receive info from you – so you know they’re interested.

Subscribing to your email list is a more intentional choice when compared to just clicking “follow” on Insta.

  5. Elevate your client experience past what is often a mindless scroll!

Email marketing for photographers means you’re setting yourself apart from the competition.

Instead of just scrolling on by your content, friends receive a direct message packed with content & links to learn more about you and how to connect with your brand!
